Steps in the process for designing a webpage

I would like clarify to some people what web development and web design means, and what the steps a web development company or web designer usualy makes (in relation to the client). The author of this article is web developer working at a Romanian web development company, and the aproach presented is common practice in Bitstar Solutions.

Designing a new website includes some steps that I will summarize here. This is what every respectable webdesigner should do to treat a client well.

The first step in web development is to discover what you want by talking with you, seeing what you have already as a logo, brochures or other visual identifiers of your business. We evaluate together if this image, if you have one, you should, if it represents your company.

If so, we will leave this to develop an "interface" - the term used to describe what will look your site on screen - that reflects your existing image.

If this was not the case, I will propose some examples of new logos, colors and styles, to create a brand that suits you and a web site you like.

The second step is to produce 2 or 3 different samples - models that software developers call "the graphic" - websites that might interest you. From there, retaining the elements that you enjoy most about one and the other models, we will design a Web page that will give you full satisfaction.

The third step is to gather all content to be published on your website. It Slor that together we will determine what precisely the "menu" that the user will see as well as links to various pages, and obviously, the kind of content that we find to each page.

Whenever I am in possession of all the future content of your site that we heard about your preference in terms of style, I began the creation of the site itself.

Then I will create my server on a space that will be accessible at all times so you can monitor developments. I prefer constant communication in order to validate each stage of the integration of content, to be sure that what I please.

When this step is completed, it remains for me to do the job optimization. This is to check each page code - the code is the language that your browser is then able to view what you see. Optimization is important for us to reference your site, to inform search engines that can then propose to the Internet during their search.

A future article will talk about the steps taken in custom software development. Even if they are not very different we usualy talk abut longer development times and much higher budgets. I will probably need some help on this from a colegue from the software development departament :)
